The Story of the Upholstery Cleaner!!
I decided I needed to clean the upholstery in the house and hide the evidence that we allow our 15 months old son to wipe his sticky, crumby fingers on our couch….not really, but by the looks of it you’d think we let him use it as a napkin. The first stop was Win Dixie to get my upholstery cleaner….I waited at the customer service desk and when no one came to help me I went looking for help. I found a lady and told her what I needed and she told me customer service didn’t open until 9AM. Well what time was it? It couldn’t be that early. Oh surprise….it’s 7:30AM…I was up and moving this day. So I packed Cohen back in the car and headed to Lowes to get my upholstery cleaner. This time calling ahead to make sure customer service was open. I filled out the paperwork, bought my supplies, loaded it and cohen into the car and drove home. I cleaned everything in about 4 hours. The next day I asked Stu if he could take the upholstery cleaner back for me since Lowes was on his way to work. He said “Sure…no problem” and loaded it into his vehicle. By now I am in my car driving to work and I get a call from Stu:
(Side note: I rented the cleaner on February 28th ….it is now March 1st)
Me: Hello!
Stu: Hey!
Me: Where are you? Did you take back the cleaner?
Stu: Um yeah…I’m just leaving lowes.
Me: you are still at Lowes…why are you still at Lowes?
Stu: I got into it with the lady at customer service when I was trying to return the cleaner.
Me: What do you mean was it broken or something…did I forget the attachment?
Stu: No…she told me I owed her for an extra day.
Me: WHAT!! I didn’t even have it 24 hours
Stu: I know…She said it was due on February 29th and it’s March 1st. It took me awhile to convince her that February only has 28 days.
Me: ARE YOU SERIOUS?
(This happened the same week as the upholstery cleaner)
Our upstairs air conditioner broke and believe it or not it is HOT here and we need that air conditioner fixed so Stu called the landlord on Tuesday who called the repair guy. Stu gets a call at lunch from repair guy who says I’m driving out to the house to take a look at the air conditioner and I will call you as soon as I know something. (Repair guy has been to our house on 3 other occasions in the past).
TUESDAY: The repair guy checks out the air conditioner, calls Stu and says he doesn’t see anything wrong with our air conditioner and gives Stu special instructions on what to do tonight when he gets home. Stu gets home and we do exactly what the repair guys told us. The next day Stu gets a call from the repair guy:
WEDNESDAY
Repair Guy: Man…you didn’t do what I asked you to do. I’m at your house…I have taken this thing apart and I don’t see anything wrong with it. (He is irritated)
Stu: I thought I did. Sorry. Tell me again what you need me to do and I’ll do it tonight when I get home.
Repair Guy: (Goes over instructions with Stu)
That night when Stu got home we did exactly what the repair guy told us to do. The next day Stu gets a call at lunch:
THURSDAY
Repair Guy: I’m at your house…and you STILL didn’t do what I asked you to do. I have taken this thing apart again and there is nothing wrong with this. (VERY UPSET WITH US)
Stu: Stay there….I’m on my way. (Upset with repair guy)
Me: (I call Stu) Where are you?
Stu: Well I’m at home because the repair guy said we didn’t follow his instructions and that he’s taken the air conditioner completely apart and there is nothing wrong with it. I told him to stay there because I was on my way, but he’s not here. OH WAIT…he’s calling me.
Repair Guy: Where are you buddy?
Stu: I’m inside the house
Repair Guy: Well I’m outside
Stu: Ok….I’m coming out
(Stu walks around the house….but doesn’t see the repair guy so he walks a couple more times around)
Repair Guy: WHERE ARE YOU?
Stu: I’m outside standing by the air conditioner….where are you?
Repair Guy: (Realizes he is not at the right house….nor has he been at the right house for the last 3 days. He has been attempting to fix someone else’s air conditioner for the last 3 days.) OMG…sorry man…I’m at the wrong house.
I think Stu wanted to choke him….unfortunately our air conditioner is still broken.
